14015 Danby Road is a low-carbon six-storey, 157-unit purpose-built rental building in Georgetown’s Norval neighbourhood. Units range from one to three bedrooms to accommodate the diverse needs within the community.
The existing community building will be retained and additional amenities, such as bike storage/repair, pet grooming, EV charging and programmed multi-use spaces are included in the design. Adjacent facilities include a community and recreation center, public elementary school, multiple parks and sports fields, as well as a shopping mall.
The rental homes at 14025 Danby are designed for the 2050 climate providing energy efficiency, resiliency, and a low carbon footprint.
Sustainability features include:
- High-efficiency, all-electric mechanical systems.
- No fossil fuels are combusted on site, reducing Scope 1 emissions to ZERO, a 100% reduction.
- Passive building systems, including well-insulated building envelopes and rigorous airtightness measures, result in efficient buildings with reduced energy consumption from the power grid, consequently reducing Scope 2 emissions.
- On-site renewable energy production, such as solar PV panels.
- Extensive use of low-embodied carbon building materials like the building’s mass timber structure reduces Scope 3 emissions by 49%.
- EV charging
As with all Kindred Works projects, 14015 Danby Road provides residents with beautiful, resilient, and desirable purpose-built rental homes with small carbon footprints.
