We acknowledge that Kindred Works offices are located on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. It has been a site of human activity for at least 15,000 years.

Managing Partner
Tim Blair brings nearly 20 years of real estate investment banking and private equity experience before Co-founding Kindred Works and Heartwood Trust. Having completed over $8 billion in transactions for complex commercial and mixed-use residential developments within the Americas and Europe, Tim is now focused on delivering over 20,000 rental homes to the Canadian housing market that are responsible investments and contribute to livable cities, creating long-term stable returns for our investors and lasting benefits to the communities in which we work.
Tim is a graduate of the School of Planning at the University of Waterloo, where he is a regular guest lecturer, and holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business.
Managing Partner
David Constable has nearly 20 years of experience in international architecture and real estate development, spanning the sectors of culture, education, commercial office, and residential development. Before Co-founding Kindred Works and Heartwood Trust, David was a Principal of KPMB Architects in Toronto. David is now focused on delivering purpose-built rental housing that is low-carbon, beautiful, and desirable to live in. These projects include systems-based thinking, smart technology, innovation, and continuous learning to enhance the projects we build and deliver long-term value to investors.
He is a graduate of McGill University School of Architecture and holds a Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, along with the OAA, LEED AP, and CPHD designations.
Manager, Corporate Accounting
As Manager of Corporate Accounting, Henry Dang assists with the organization’s financial reporting, daily accounting, and human resources functions.
Henry joined the Kindred Works team in 2022 after launching his career at a public accounting firm. He was drawn to Kindred Works by his desire to help solve the affordable housing crisis and the opportunity to lead change in an exciting start-up environment.
He obtained an honours degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting in 2019 before acquiring his CPA designation in 2021.
Passionate about spending time with loved ones in his spare time, Henry says home is “where you and your friends and family feel safe and secure.”
Director, Property Management and Operations
In her role as Director of Property Management Operations, Audrey Dover is responsible for overseeing and optimizing Kindred Works’ property management processes.
Passionate about creating spaces that foster a sense of community, Audrey joined the Kindred Works team after being inspired by its mission to create inclusive and connected environments. With a background in accounting and payroll, she has over 15 years of experience in the property management sector and brings significant expertise in managing the finances and operational efficiency of property operations. Audrey holds a diploma in accounting and payroll from Everest College, along with a Property Management designation from Humber College.
Outside of work, Audrey is a dedicated community volunteer and outdoor enthusiast who enjoys spending quality time with her family. She is also a strong advocate for work-life balance and employee well-being.
Audrey says that to her, home is a haven of comfort and warmth. “I value the idea of home as a place of relaxation and rejuvenation.”
Manager, Development
As Development Manager at Kindred Works, Ross Edwards helps lead projects through the pre-development process, from project initiation to construction.
One of Kindred Works’ first employees, Ross has been part of the company’s evolution since its early days. Constantly learning and growing alongside Kindred Works, he is grateful to be part of a team working to set a new precedent in addressing the dual crises of climate change and housing while building well-designed homes and thriving communities.
Ross holds a Bachelor of Science degree in ecology and environmental studies from McMaster University, which led to his interest in environmental protection and climate change, as well as a Master of Planning degree from Toronto Metropolitan University. At TMU, his graduate research focused primarily on housing affordability and sustainable development.
Outside of work, Ross enjoys socializing, playing piano, volleyball, hiking, and reading. He considers home “a place of relaxation.”
Law Clerk
As Kindred Works’ Law Clerk, Manal Farah is proud to be part of a dedicated team of skilled individuals helping to address the housing crisis through the lens of sustainability.
Prior to joining Kindred Works, Manal spent most of her career focused on closing commercial real estate transactions. After developing an interest in property, planning, and land assembly, and with a passion for helping others, the opportunity to join the team at Kindred Works seemed like the perfect fit for her skills.
In addition to her extensive experience in property and real estate, Manal holds a Legal Assistant certificate from Seneca College.
To Manal, home is more than just a physical structure. “It’s the feeling of safety, belonging, serenity, heart, and a place where I can just be.”
Director, Development and Planning
As Director, Development and Planning at Kindred Works, Carly Forrester drives all aspects of the planning approval process, from due diligence to council meetings and everything in between.
After earning a degree in environmental studies and psychology from Carleton University, Carly discovered an interest in urban planning during a backpacking trip to Europe. Upon returning home, she decided to pursue a second degree in urban and regional planning from Toronto Metropolitan University and began her career as a summer student with N. Barry Lyon Consultants. There, one of her first projects was on a property database that led to the creation of Kindred Works.
In her spare time, Carly enjoys spending time with family and friends and taking her dog, Wilma, for long walks around Toronto neighbourhoods. She says that home is a place where she loves to relax with her husband and dog.
Associate
In his role as Associate at Kindred Works, Gavin provides investment analysis and due diligence to approve and advance development projects. He was inspired to join the Kindred Works team as he believes that housing development is a way to make a tangible impact in his community and within Canada as a whole – a prospect that is both appealing and fulfilling.
Prior to joining Kindred Works, Gavin was a member of the investments team at Revera Inc., where he was involved with a variety of seniors housing transactions and initiatives, including acquisitions, developments, asset management, and divestitures. His academic background is in finance and mathematics at Western University.
Out of the office, Gavin can be found skiing, practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, playing the guitar, and traveling. To him, home is a comfortable place to recharge, full of friends and family.
Manager, Development Accountant
As Manager, Development Accountant at Kindred Works, Elaine Fu loves the challenge of creating efficiencies for the development team when it comes to reporting from an accounting perspective.
With over five years of experience in development accounting, including in the real estate sector, Elaine came to Kindred Works to apply her skills in a positive working environment that values integrity and teamwork. She holds a Bachelor of Finance degree from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics and an MBA with a finance concentration from Brock University’s Goodman School of Business, as well as her CPA designation.
Outside of work, Elaine enjoys trying new restaurants, painting, singing, and listening to K-pop. She says that home, to her, is “a private place to relax and recharge. It means security and happiness.”
Administrator, Property Management
As Property Administrator at Kindred Works, Davena Gobin works with the Asset Management and Operations team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of properties in the Landbank portfolio.
Bringing invaluable experience in real estate and property management to her role, Davena was drawn to Kindred Works after recognizing that the company’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity mirrors her own values. She holds a diploma in accounting from Sheridan College and complemented her education and work experience by completing coursework at the Ontario Real Estate College.
When she’s not at work, Davena enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and doing Pilates as part of her goal to maintain a fulfilling lifestyle and nurture personal connections.
To Davena, home is a place where she finds solace and comfort. “Home embodies a sense of security and belonging, fostering an environment where I can truly be myself.”
Manager, Building Performance
As Manager, Building Performance at Kindred Works, Jonathan’s role is to define building performance targets and ensure their fulfillment from design to operations.
Inspired by Kindred Works’ environmental impact goals, Jonathan is passionate about working with measured data to find opportunities to minimize energy consumption while continuously validating the achievement of current performance goals.
In his current role, Jonathan draws on extensive experience in architecture, engineering, and building sciences consultancy as well as sustainability analysis. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Toronto as well as a master’s in building science from Toronto Metropolitan University.
When not in the office, Jonathan enjoys canoe trips in Northern Ontario and practicing his astrocartography skills.
To Jonathan, home is anywhere he can find his lounge chair and windows he can open and close as he pleases.
Director, Construction
As Director, Construction, Nic Green oversees the construction group at Kindred Works. With proven expertise in design coordination and construction administration, Nic focuses on project delivery within budget and schedule.
An accomplished architect, Nic has over 25 years of design and management experience in a wide range of project types, from single family residences to complex large-scale institutional buildings. Nic has worked across the globe with architectural firms in Paris, Geneva, London, Vancouver, and Toronto. Most recently, he spent 18 years with renowned firm KPMB Architects, where he was a key team member and integral to the success of many high-profile projects such as the revitalization of Massey Hall, Isttaniokaksini / Science Commons at the University of Lethbridge and the Mike and Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre, University of Waterloo.
Nic was educated in England and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in architectural studies from the University of Bath and a Postgraduate Diploma in architecture from London Southbank University. He joined Kindred Works in 2024 to contribute to a growing company working to address the housing crisis.
In his spare time, Nic enjoys small projects around the house, spending time with his family, and travel. Home, to him, represents relaxation and a place for memories.
Director, Accounting and Operations
As Director of Accounting and Operations, May Huang leads a team responsible for financial reporting and compliance of entities within the Kindred Works ecosystem. She also oversees Kindred Works’ human resources and payroll operations.
With a background in the real estate industry, including increasingly progressive roles on the accounting teams of major property development companies like Dream Unlimited and QuadReal, May joined Kindred Works after being inspired by its mission to marry the goals of profit and doing good. She believes this approach has enabled Kindred Works to develop in a unique way, with social impact and stakeholders always at top of mind.
May holds an undergraduate degree from Brock University and her CPA, CA designation. Whether working or with family, she lives by the notion that as a society, we have the ability to empower others and should take every opportunity to do so.
May says that home “is where one’s heart feels most content and safe, where a person is given the best opportunity to live a life they love.”
Senior Corporate Accountant
As Kindred Works’ Senior Corporate Accountant, Hendrenique Kelly is responsible for comprehensive financial reporting for both internal and external purposes. Her duties range from day-to-day accounting for corporate activities, to preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements, and ensuring compliance with tax and debt commitments across the organization.
Hendrenique’s career has seen her in many corporate accountant and analyst roles in both the public and private sectors including Baker Tilly, Canadian Tire, and BAZ Group of Companies. In addition to her professional experience, Hendrenique brings to Kindred Works a bachelor’s in business administration and is in the final stages of completing the requirements for her CPA designation.
Hailing from The Bahamas, where many resources are dedicated to directly addressing climate change, she deeply resonates with Kindred Works’ mission to build sustainable, climate-safe housing as she’s seen the importance of taking this global initiative seriously. Hendrenique is inspired by the team’s passion, purpose, and collaborative approach to addressing large-scale challenges in the world.
Hendrenique enjoys exploring new cultures and places through travel. She is also deeply committed to community work and enjoys being actively involved in local initiatives that make a positive impact.
To Hendrenique, home is definitely where the heart is! “It’s a peaceful place where I’m deeply connected with my family and loved ones, and where I can truly be myself. It’s a place of comfort and security, filled with love, joy, and cherished memories,” she says.
Senior Property Coordinator
As Kindred Works’ Senior Property Coordinator, Babak serves as a liaison between the Property Management team and a range of stakeholders from tenants to property owners and vendors.
Babak’s career has spanned various roles in construction and project management, and joins Kindred Works with his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Architectural Engineering. He also holds a Project Management Professional certification.
With a passion for creating spaces that foster a sense of community and wellbeing through sustainable design and inclusive living environments, Babak leverages his diverse skillset to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration, ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our properties.
When he’s not in the office, Babak can be found exploring new destinations, cultures, and cuisines. He says that the idea of home “embodies a sanctuary where one finds comfort, belonging, and the freedom to express oneself. It’s more than a physical space; it’s a reflection of our identity and a place where memories are made and cherished.”
Graphic and Web Designer
As Graphic and Web Designer, Vicky works closely with the Kindred Works team to create compelling visual content and presentations that showcase the company’s mission, vision, and projects.
An accomplished designer who previously held senior roles at Azure Media and Designlines magazine, Vicky joined Kindred Works because she was inspired by the opportunity to directly impact people’s lives through sustainable and community-focused development. She holds a degree in graphic design from OCAD University.
In her spare time, Vicky pursues her passion for music, including singing and playing keyboard and bass guitar.
To Vicky, home is anywhere that family, friends, and loved ones can gather.
Head, Corporate and External Affairs
A builder at heart, Janet McCausland is passionate about growing Kindred Works and its social and environmental impact in her role as Head of Corporate and External Affairs.
A seasoned strategic leader with 25 years of experience generating sustainable growth in the social impact sector, Janet joined the Kindred Works team from Prince’s Trust Canada, where she led the development of employment readiness programs for young people. She has also worked as a consultant for clients in the sustainability sector and has supported several entrepreneurial projects focused on social impact. Janet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of London.
To Janet, home can mean a work in progress: “Home means my relatively new house that we’re working on decorating, and my family inside it!”
Director, Finance and Analytics
Working at the crossroads of data and decision-making, Philippe Michalik oversees project underwriting, financial management and modelling, and analytics at Kindred Works.
Prior to joining Kindred Works, Philippe managed a team of analysts at CBRE and worked in a variety of other roles, from banking to mergers and acquisitions to venture capital. Over the years, he has been based out of Canada, France, Poland, and Vietnam. Drawn to Kindred Works’ commitment to creating meaningful impact through innovation and responsible investment, he loves being part of a team that’s making a difference in the world.
Born and raised in France, Philippe moved to Canada with his family in 2021. He holds a master’s degree in finance and risk management, designations as a Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, and a certificate in ESG investing from the CFA Institute.
Outside of work, Philippe and his family enjoy exploring, connecting with, and contributing to their new home in Canada while navigating the journey of integrating two distinct cultures into their lives. To him, home is synonymous with family: “Home is where I find unconditional love, support, and understanding.”
Coordinator, Admin and Communications
In his role as Coordinator, Admin and Communications at Kindred Works, Wyeth works within the Corporate and External Affairs department to ensure that both internal and external messaging is consistent, engaging and impactful.
Wyeth brings a bachelor’s of journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University and years of experience in communications and digital media-focused positions to his role in Kindred Works. He is motivated by his lifelong passion for community-building and storytelling, and spent much of his degree reporting on urban development in Toronto’s downtown core.
Outside of work, Wyeth enjoys cycling along Toronto’s scenic Harbourfront and reading at any one of the city’s public libraries.
To Wyeth, to be home means to feel connected to one’s neighbourhood through the people and spaces we care about most.
Senior Development Analyst
In his role as Senior Development Analyst at Kindred Works, Adam’s primary goal is to ensure the financial feasibility of each project. In doing so, Adam helps to drive projects forward, and is motivated by seeing each unique housing community come to life.
Adam’s professional background spans the real estate spectrum from purpose-built rental housing, like Kindred Works, to commercial real estate in analyst and acquisitions and dispositions capacities. Adam holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Guelph. He was inspired to join Kindred Works by each project’s unique story and journey, as well as the company’s sustainability and design principles.
Outside of the office, Adam enjoys staying active by playing soccer, going to the gym, and being outside as much as possible. He believes that home is the place where one feels most comfortable and can be themselves.
Legal Counsel
Juli serves as Legal Counsel at Kindred Works, overseeing all commercial real estate transactions including financing, management agreements, development agreements and joint ventures. Prior to joining Kindred Works, she was counsel at Goodmans acting for clients including Oxford Property Groups and several REITs. She has been recognized as a leading practitioner of real estate by Chambers Canada, the Legal 500 Canada, Euromoney’s Guide to the Leading Real Estate lawyers (one of the top 12 in the world) and many others. Juli holds an LL.B. from McGill University and an LL.M. From University of Toronto. She was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1979.
Manager, Development
As Development Manager and Planner at Kindred Works, Kevin Opoku works with an internal team to assess the feasibility of potential development sites and oversees development projects from start to finish. Playing a vital role in reimagining underutilized spaces, he is motivated by the opportunity to help address the dire need for more housing in the marketplace.
With a background in the real estate and development sector, including roles at Smart Centre’s REIT, N. Barry Lyon Consultants, and Cornerstone Marketing Realty Inc., Kevin joined Kindred Works to pursue his interest in business as a force for good. He is passionate about the company’s work at the intersection of housing, climate change, and social impact, as well as its commitment to providing below market rate housing to equity-seeking groups.
Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning and a Master of Science in Management degree with a specialization in real estate management, both from Toronto Metropolitan University. Outside of Kindred Works, he spends most of his time with his family and friends.
Kevin says that to him, “home is a place of comfort, safety, and peace.”
Junior Analyst, Accounting
As Junior Accounting Analyst at Kindred Works, Jude Siby works closely with the development team to ensure adherence to accounting and reporting standards.
After moving to Canada as an international student in 2021, Jude quickly realized that housing is a key challenge impacting people and communities in this country. He was inspired by Kindred Works’ mission to help tackle the issue and joined the team as an intern upon graduating from York University with a post-graduate degree in accounting. Jude also holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Saintgits College of Applies Sciences in India and is working toward his CPA designation.
When he’s not at work, Jude pursues his passion for cars and enjoys bowling, travelling, and trying new restaurants. He says home, to him, is “where my people are at.”
Administrator, Accounts Payable
As Accounts Payable Administrator at Kindred Works, Natalia Tafur loves being part of an organization that is addressing Canada’s housing crisis in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
Prior to joining Kindred Works, Natalia worked in the construction management field as an accounts payable coordinator at Skygrid Construction Inc., a company specializing in residential and commercial mid- and high-rise projects. She also gained experience in project accounting and corporate accounting.
A values-based professional, she was drawn to Kindred Works because of its focus on creating social impact and its commitment to transforming the practices and priorities of the property development sector. She is currently studying toward her CPA designation and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in marketing from Brock University.
When she’s not at work, Natalia spends time with her Dachshund rescue dog, Lizzie, and enjoys getting together with family and friends. She says that home is not a place, but a feeling: “Home is a place where I can authentically be myself, free of any judgments.”
Director, Real Estate Development
Through meticulous project management, Kristopher Tavella plays a crucial role in steering Kindred Works’ development projects from initial acquisition through to final completion — all while ensuring each project aligns with the company’s core values.
With a professional background in single-family development and construction, brokerage, and financial analysis, as well as leading the original land inventory, Kristopher was integral in the founding of Kindred Works and the broader vision of financial, environmental, and social performance.
Kristopher holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in real estate and finance from the University of Guelph, a post-graduate certificate in real property valuation from the University of British Columbia, and a broker category designation from the Real Estate Council of Ontario.
In his limited free time, Kristopher is passionate about exploring and adventuring outdoors.
Director, Innovation and Sustainability
As Director of Innovation and Sustainability at Kindred Works, Geoff Turnbull champions an evidence-based, holistic approach to creating beautiful, sustainable, and high-performing development projects.
Geoff came to Kindred Works with a broad background in architecture, business, film, computation, and real estate development, including serving as director of KPMB LAB, the sustainability-focused research group at leading Canadian architecture firm KPMB Architects. A licensed architect (OAA) who holds the LEED AP and CPHD designations, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance from Dalhousie University and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Toronto.
A father to two daughters, Charlotte and Juliette, Geoffrey enjoys downhill skiing, cycling, camping, water sports, and indulging in good food, wine, and travel.
To Geoffrey, home is wherever his daughters are.
Community Engagement Manager
In her role as Community Engagement Manager at Kindred Works, Katie Ungard oversees the design and execution of strategic community engagement programs and processes to cultivate lasting and mutually beneficial relationships within the communities we serve. Through community engagement, Katie helps to ensure that our development projects and buildings contribute positively and meaningfully to the community fabric.
Katie’s experience spans the non-profit, philanthropic, and private sectors, and ranges from community development programs from small rural communities to large urban centres. In addition to more than a decade of experience, Katie draws on her Master of Environmental Studies from York University.
Naturally, Katie is excited by the opportunity to collaborate with local communities to shape inclusive spaces that resonate with their aspirations. She is keen to invest in creating genuine dialogue and collaboration that results in positive and long-lasting values-aligned results long after construction is completed.
In her free time, Katie enjoys backcountry camping and cooking delicious dishes she can share with family and friends. Katie defines home as being “not just a physical location, but a deep sense of connection – a weaving together of relationship, responsibility, and place.”
